Research on Relationships
Much of our early work in this area examined the impact of identity development on self-disclosure patterns and consequences of those differences in self-disclosure on friendship development. More recently, we have been exploring gender differences in friendships and romantic relationships and the consequences of these differences for the success of the relationship and gender differences in risk for depression. This work is informed by the research of Amanda Rose. Most recently, we have been exploring gender differences in the way friends respond to the advice that they are given when telling a friend about a problem that they are having.
