Computer repair! It is what I love doing best. It is fun to fix things for people and to see the smile on their face when one is successful. I started out in electronics back in 1962 and have worked as a technician in an engineering department, along with working an assembly line, electronics work for a manufacturer, pastored a church, and running my own business. The electronics field is exciting as it changes so rapidly.
I have been at Gustavus since 1981 when I started with the Physics Department. If I remember right it was about 1983 that I was asked to do the computer repair, which at that time meant the terminals for the mainframe. My job has evolved like the computer industry so that now it involves the computer hardware and the printers. My how times have changed. Now most all of us have at least one computer or more. Some of us even have computers that we carry around with us. Pretty cool! Not only that but we have cell phones and iPods or MP3 players, GPS units, and satellite receivers.
