Carrie Gundersen Named MIAC Women's Swimmer of the Week

Carrie Gundersen turned in the MIAC's top times in the 500 and 1650 freestyle this past weekend.

Gustavus Adolphus College junior Carrie Gundersen (Minnetonka, Minn.) has been named the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Swimmer of the Week. Gundersen swam the MIAC's fastest times this season in the 500 and 1650 freestyle at the UW-River Falls Falcon Invite held this past weekend at the University of Minnesota. She set the conference's fastest time in the 500 freestyle by placing second with a time of 5:15.90.

  • Women's Swimming Finishes Fourth At Falcon Invitational
    The Gustavus women's swimming team took fourth place out of ten teams in the red division at the Falcon Invitational hosted by the University of Wisconsin at River Falls and held at the University of Minnesota Aquatics Center in Minneapolis on Saturday. The Gusties recorded 481 points behind first place University of Wisconsin in Eau Claire, which tallied 720 points.
  • Women's Swimming Wins Seven Events, Defeats St. Ben's at CSB/SJU Mini-Invitational
    The Gustavus women's swimming team claimed seven event titles and finished ahead of St. Ben's at the CSB/SJU Mini-Invitational held at Saint John's University on Saturday. The Gusties scored 1418.5 points, while the Blazers finished with 1075.5 points. Gustavus, which won seven of the 17 events, were led by Carrie Gundersen (200 free, 500 free) and Anika Erickson (100 breast, 200 breast), who both won two events at the meet.
  • Women's Swimming Drops Dual Meet To St. Olaf 146-148
    The Gustavus women's swimming and diving team dropped a heartbreaker to St. Olaf on Saturday afternoon in Northfield as the Oles rallied to win the final event of the meet (the 400 free relay) and edge the Gusties by two points 148-146. Steph Korba was a double-winner for Gustavus as she took top honors in both the 100 (1:02.92) and 200 butterfly (2:23.29).
  • Women's Swimming Team Finishes Second Out Of Four At St. Kate's Invitational
    The Gustavus women's swimming team finished second out of four teams at the St. Kate's Invitational on Friday night in St. Paul. Carleton finished first with 809 points, while the Gusties totalled 555. sprinter Jonna Berry and diver Alicia Alvarado both recorded a second and a third place finish to lead the team at the meet.
