Women's Swimming Wins Seven Events, Defeats St. Ben's at CSB/SJU Mini-Invitational

The Gustavus women's swimming team claimed seven event titles and finished ahead of St. Ben's at the CSB/SJU Mini-Invitational held at Saint John's University on Saturday. The Gusties scored 1418.5 points, while the Blazers finished with 1075.5 points. Gustavus, which won seven of the 17 events, were led by Carrie Gundersen (200 free, 500 free) and Anika Erickson (100 breast, 200 breast), who both won two events at the meet.

    The Gustavus women's swimming and diving team dropped a heartbreaker to St. Olaf on Saturday afternoon in Northfield as the Oles rallied to win the final event of the meet (the 400 free relay) and edge the Gusties by two points 148-146. Steph Korba was a double-winner for Gustavus as she took top honors in both the 100 (1:02.92) and 200 butterfly (2:23.29).
  • Women's Swimming Team Finishes Second Out Of Four At St. Kate's Invitational
    The Gustavus women's swimming team finished second out of four teams at the St. Kate's Invitational on Friday night in St. Paul. Carleton finished first with 809 points, while the Gusties totalled 555. sprinter Jonna Berry and diver Alicia Alvarado both recorded a second and a third place finish to lead the team at the meet.
  • Women's Swimming Falls To MSU, Mankato In Season-Opening Dual Meet
    The Gustavus women's swimming team got off to a slow start and never got back on track in a 149-94 setback in a dual meet with the University of Minnesota, Mankato in the Gustavus Natatorium on Friday evening. Anika Erickson registered the lone first place finish for the Gusties as she claimed top honors in the 100 breaststroke (1:09.70).
  • Swimming and Diving Programs Set To Participate In Ted Mullin Hour of Power
    The Gustavus Adolphus College swimming and diving teams are taking part in the third annual Ted Mullin Hour of Power Relay for cancer research on Thursday, Nov. 6 beginning at 4 p.m. in honor of former Carleton swimmer Edward H. "Ted" Mullin, who passed away from a rare soft-tissue cancer in September 2006.
