Three Gustavus Track and Field Athletes Receive USTFCCCA All-Academic Awards

Gustavus track and field athletes Anna Bauer (So., Hastings, Minn.), Shanna Dawson (Sr., Fairmont, Minn.), and Chris deLaubenfels (Sr., Mount Vernon, Iowa) have been recognized recently by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) on its 2008 Division III All-Academic Women's and Men's Track and Field teams. Twenty-eight MIAC student-athletes from four MIAC institutions helped comprise the list of 392 student-athletes that made up the team.

  • 57 Gustavus athletes received Academic All-ConferenceMIAC Announces 2007-08 Winter And Spring Academic All-Conference
    The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) recently announced its 2007-08 Winter and Spring Academic All-Conference honorees. The MIAC recognized 387 student-athletes who represented the conference's thirteen institutions. Student-athletes must be a sophomore, junior, or senior with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale to qualify for MIAC Academic All-Conference recognition.
  • Drew HoodDrew Hood Named To CoSIDA Academic All-America Team
    Gustavus Adolphus College senior men's track and field athlete Drew Hood has been named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America Men's Track and Field/Cross Country Team as released by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Hood, a pole vaulter from Mankato, Minn., was named to the Second Team and is the eighth Gustavus student-athlete to earn Academic All-America honors.
  • Drew Hood, Chris deLaubenfels, Laura Edlund Named To CoSIDA Academic All-District Track/Cross Country Team
    The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) released its men's and women's Academic All-District Track and Field/Cross Country Teams sponsored by ESPN The Magazine and three Gustavus student athletes were honored including Drew Hood, Chris deLaubenfels, and Laura Edlund.
  • Drew Hood Wins Pole Vault To Highlight Men's Track and Field's Performance at MIAC Championships
    Senior Drew Hood won the pole vault for the second year clearing a height of 14 feet, 9 inches and junior Tyler Geyen finished third in the 110 high hurdles (14.76) and fourth in the javelin at a distance of 166 feet, 10 inches. Gustavus finished ninth as a team with 31 points, while St. Thomas finished first with 183.0 points.
