Gustavus Adolphus College

As part of the St. Peter Reads program, author Michael Perry will appear at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 7 at Trinity Lutheran Church in St. Peter for a discussion and book signing. This event is free and open to the public.

Perry, author of Population: 485: Meeting Your Neighbors One Siren at a Time, writes about his return to his hometown of New Auburn, Wis., and his commitment to the New Auburn volunteer fire and rescue squad. Perry has a degree in nursing and experience as a medical technician that fit the job perfectly. Perry’s writings have appeared in numerous publications, including Newsweek, The New York Times Magazine, and Utne. His essays and humor are often heard on Minnesota Public Radio. He also contributes humor to the local fire department by being the first volunteer fireman in village history to miss the monthly meeting because of a poetry reading.

Perry will make other appearances during his visit to St. Peter, including several classroom presentations at St. Peter High School and gatherings with emergency personnel and Gustavus Adolphus College groups. The theme for his visit is “Meeting Your Neighbors One Siren at a Time.”
