Women's Basketball Falls Out Of First Place With 88-71 Loss At Macalester

The Gustavus women's basketball team ran into a hot-shooting Macalester squad and lost its first conference game of the year by the score of 88-71 in St. Paul. The Scots shot 61.5 percent from the field (16-26) and made 19-of-29 free throws in the second half to pull away from the Gusties who fell out of first place with the loss. Ann Baltzer led the Scots with 26 points, while Emily Nelson led Gustavus with 19 points.

    The Gustavus women's basketball team rallied in the final minute of play to nip St. Kate's 57-54 in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference game at Gus Young Court in St. Peter on Saturday afternoon. The Gusties did not hold a lead in the game until Molly Geske hit two free throws with :42 left in regulation play which put Gustavus up 55-54. Bri Radtke and Julia Schultz each made one free throw in the final :19 to allow the Gusties to remain undefeated in league play at 5-0.

    The Gustavus women's basketball team lost a non-conference contest to Wartburg College 72-68 in Waverly, Iowa on Sunday night. It was the Gusties first loss of the season. Katie Layman led Gustavus in scoring with 17 points.
  • Women's Basketball Slips Past Augsburg 61-59 To Remain Undefeated
    The Gustavus women's basketball team held off a furious second half rally by Augsburg and claimed a 61-59 win in Minneapolis on Wednesday night. The Gusties are now 6-0 overall and 4-0 in the MIAC. Bri Radtke led the Gusties in scoring with 11 points.
  • Molly Mathiowetz grabs an offensive rebound for the Gusties.Women's Basketball Moves to 5-0 With 75-40 Win Over Saint Mary's
    The Gustavus women's basketball team used a 19-4 run over the final 11 minutes of the first half to break open a tight game and then cruised to a convincing 75-40 win over Saint Mary's in St. Peter on Monday night. First year guard Molly Geske led a balanced Gustie scoring attack with 12 points. Coach Mickey Haller's team improves to 5-0 overall and 3-0 in the MIAC.
