The Gustavus women's soccer team started preparing for its 2008 season today (August
19) as 39 players reported for pre-season camp . Head Coach Mike Stehlik, who is
beginning his 19th season, welcomes back eight starters and 22 letterwinners from a young
squad that finished 8-10-0 last year.

Stehlik will look to senior captains, Christy Tupy and Ashley Voigtlander , to lead the
squad. Tupy, who started 17 games at forward, led the team in scoring with eight goals
and one assist for 17 points, while Voigtlander, who started every game in the midfield,
registered one goal and two assists for four points.

The Gusties will have two practices a day over the next two weeks leading up to their
home opener against the University of Minnesota-Morris on Sunday, August 31. During the
two weeks, the players will have an opportunity to get to know their new teammates and
build team chemistry both on and off the field as they partake in practices, scrimmages ,
and various team meetings.
